BJP MLA Ram Kadam apologises to Maharashtra women's body for controversial remarks

Maharashtra Women's Commission for the controversial remarks he made during Dahi Handi festival in Mumbai. Earlier, he had apologised publicly for his objectionable comments."I had already apologised to all women but now again I am tendering an unconditional apology to them through the Maharashtra State Commission for Women. I also assured the commission that I will work for the welfare of women," Kadam wrote.
The Commission had taken suo motu cognisance of Kadam's controversial statement.
During Dahi Handi festival celebrations in Mumbai, Kadam shared his mobile number from the stage and said that he will kidnap any girl and bring her to a boy even if she rejects the boy's proposal. The statement stirred a controversy and hit the national headlines. Kadam's video clip had gone viral on the social media. Kadam did not apologise immediately. However, after prevaricating for a few days he tendered his public apology.

BJP MLA Ram Kadam promises to ‘kidnap girls’ who reject marriage proposals

Bharatiya Janata Party’s Ghatkopar MLA Ram Kadam has purportedly promised to help “kidnap girls” who reject marriage proposals. A video showing Kadam making the controversial comments at a Dahi Handi event on Monday drew criticism from several quarters.
In the video, Kadam is heard saying, “Take down my number. If you call me and say, ‘sir, I proposed to this girl but she declined. Please help’. This [girls declining proposals] is wrong. Of course I will help. First bring your parents, if they say they like the girl, I will kidnap her and hand her over to you.”

Nationalist Congress Party MLA Jitendra Awad shared the video on Twitter and rebuked Kadam for his statement. “How can women in this country be safe if ruling party MLAs openly boast about kidnapping women?” Awad tweeted.

Kadam, however, claimed he was misquoted, News18 reported. “I said that children should consult their parents,” Kadam told the channel. “My statement has been misunderstood. This is a political conspiracy of the opposition to target me.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis had also attended the event on Monday.

BJP MLA Ram Kadam says, would help boys get married even if the girl has rejected their proposal

A BJP MLA and party spokesperson Ram Kadam has landed himself and his party in a hot soup after claiming that he would be ready to help boys get married to girls even if she has rejected his proposal.

Kadam who is an MLA from Ghatkopar during the Gokulashtami festival is heard on tape speaking during Monday’s Gokulashtami festival saying, “ Saheb, I have proposed to her and she has rejected my proposal please help me. It is wrong, will will help you 100%. First you have to get your parents to me, if your parents say that yes we like this girl, then what will I do? Questioned Kadam exhorting the crowd gathered to answer on his behalf.

When the crowd did not answer Kadam said that he will get the girl and give it to the boys to get married. Kadam even gave his number to the crowd asking him to call him for the same.

While Kadam has been criticised roundly his party has decided to back him. State BJP spokesperson Madhav Bhandari said that the MLA has given his explanation and the party has accepted it. “ He has said that his speech was distorted and it was not the complete speech. We have accepted it.”said Bhandari.
